FIIs step up selling

Outflow of Rs 733.90 crore on 28 May 2008

Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares worth net Rs 733.90 crore on Wednesday, 28 May 2008, compared to their selling of Rs 354.10 crore on Tuesday, 27 May 2008.

FII outflow of Rs 733.90 crore on 28 May 2008 was a result of gross purchases Rs 3264.40 crore and gross sales Rs 3998.30 crore. Sensex rose 249.78 points or 1.53% at 16,525.37 on that day.

FII outflow in May 2008 totaled Rs 3,927.60 crore (till 28 May 2008). FII outflow in calendar year 2008 totaled Rs 14,285.70 crore (till 28 May 2008).

There are a total of 1,378 FIIs registered with the Securities & Exchange Board of India (Sebi).
