Asian stocks open in green


Asian stocks advanced as earnings reports from Australia to Japan boosted speculation that rising demand will help the global economy exit from recession.

Daiwa House Industry and Nomura Real Estate Holdings climbed nearly 2% after reporting higher-than-forecast earnings.

Japanese benchmark index Nikkei 225 gained 56.28 points, or 0.55%, to trade at 10,323.45.

Hong Kong`s Hang Seng index rose 228.38 points, or 1.03%, to trade at 22,438.90.

China`s Shanghai Composite increased 42.02 points, or 1.38% to trade at 3,093.43.

Taiwan`s Taiex index advanced 12.03 points, or 0.16%, to trade at 7,619.96.

South Korea`s Kospi index climbed 7 points, or 0.43% to trade at 1,637.33.

Singapore`s Straits Times index gained 28.22 points, or to 1.05% trade at 2,710.19. (7.45 a.m., IST)
