Asian stocks open positive


Asian stocks gained, driving the benchmark index to its sixth advance in seven days, as the dollar strengthened almost to an 11-week high against the yen, boosting the profit outlook for Japanese exporters.



Japanese benchmark index Nikkei 225 rose 27.13 points, or 0.27%, to trade at 10,259.50.

Hong Kong`s Hang Seng index advanced by 123.08 points, or 0.53%, at 23,215.60.

China`s Shanghai Composite increased 14.34 points, or 0.50% to trade at 2,834.21.

Taiwan`s Taiex index rose 78.05 points, or 0.90%, to trade at 8,781.84.

South Korea`s Kospi index decreased 12.43 points, or 0.64% to trade at 1,968.15.

Singapore`s Straits Times indexed advanced 8.72 points, or to 0.27% trade at 3,211.52. (07.44 a.m., IST)
