Markets may fall at start on euro zone debt worries


Today’s start is expected to be on a weak note led by negative global cues and on account of SGX Nifty trading 41 points lower.

Indian Indices:

After a marginal rise in yesterday’s trade, Indian markets are expected to reverse the trend and start today’s session on a negative note tracking weak global cues. SGX Nifty is trading 41 points lower.

India local car sales data will be out today. Investors may trade cautiously as volatility will persist on euro zone debt worries. On Tuesday (April 10, 2012), Sensex settled 22 points higher at 17243 and the Nifty closed at 5244, up by 9 points.
Global Cues:

Asian shares slipped for a third straight day on Wednesday (April 11, 2012), as uncertainty over global growth prospects, and resurfacing worries about debt restructuring in the euro zone, prompted investors to continue trimming their risk exposures.

European shares hit a 10-week low on Tuesday (April 10, 2012), as fresh concerns about global growth and pressure on some highly indebted euro zone countries hurt cyclical stocks, with charts for a major blue-chip index showing scope for yet further declines.

US stocks fell sharply on Tuesday, building on a four-session series of declines, as worries over rising borrowing costs for European countries weighed on investor sentiment ahead of the start of earnings season.
